Philosophy Fridays

Hi, it's Charluxx.

My favorite class in University was Osteology.

Well, I shouldn’t say it was my favourite class because it was hell... Upon entering the "bones lab" for the first time, literaly surrounded by hundred of skulls, human skeletons, and thousands of bones and teeth, we all noticed a blackboard on which the previous group had written “L’ostéo, s’pas rose”... in pink (that's French for "Osteology's not rosy").

The class lasted two years and it boiled down to one single exam.

After two years, I knew more about bones and teeth than most doctors do.

The class was HARD, but it did feature some of my fondest memories in a school environment... Our teacher, Ken, used to visit us once a week— there was only eight of us, and we rarely all there at the same time—on Fridays and he would talk with us about everything: fashion, politics, music, current events, nothing was off limits.

A few Fridays into this, after we had talked for a few hours, he got up and said: “I love our little philosophy Fridays.”

He was cool. He was quite older than us, had a brown and greyish beard, wore mostly brown sweatshirts on top of blue or white shirts, and always had a tie. He was stylish like an uncle in the old movies. Unasuming is how I would describe him.

He changed my life, in that he made me appreciate the attention to details, sharing stories, talking things through and trying to make sense of the world.

I want to tell you stories, I want to hear yours, I want to know about your passions, I want to challenge you, I also want to talk music... and philosophy.

I want you to look forward to my postings and having our time together.

Peace and Love,

Charluxx.
