Where does music come from?
Did you ever ask yourself this question?
Have you ever wondered how your favorite musicians come up with the wonderful songs you so love?
I know I have!
I remember listening to Paul McCartney tell the story of how he woke up with the song Yesterday in his head, and how he felt he was just a conduit, receiving a song from the Universe.
I thought that was so cool, until it happened to me for the first time, then I knew it was... AWESOME!!
For me, there are a few kinds of songs: the ones that come to you in dreams, the ones that come to you spontaneously in the daytime, the ones that you sit down to write... and they just come out, and finally the one that you work at.
Whatever the process—my sister Annie has a great mantra: just trust the process—songwriting never fails to amaze and astound me. The creative energy that derives from it is second to none. It is magical.
I will share with you the genesis of each song so that you can better understand said process.
I will also explain the parts and the details I put in my songs, how they come together.
Hope that pleases you!
